Cuts to Alberta Arts Organizations:

Last year the Alberta Government cut arts funding to the Alberta Foundation for the Arts resulting in an across the Board cut to arts organizations of 16%, without consultation and in direct contradicition to their recently developed strategic plan for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. This year the provincial government is considering further cuts to arts funding, which will no doubt result in the death of many valued and innovative arts and culture organizations in our province.
The Professional Arts Coalition of Edmonton is spearheading a campaign to let the provincial government know that further cuts to Alberta's arts and culture sector will hurt the entire province. Feel free to use the I love Alberta Art tag line as part of this campaign. We also encourage you to come up with your own postcards using the same message we feature here to increase the impact of the campaign.
